The IndieSquish Buildoff Challenge!

Postby kongering » Sun Dec 21, 2014 6:34 pm

The MineSquish server is proud to introduce a new monthly Build-off challenge!

THE RULES:

Each challenge will have its own theme. Your build has to connect with the theme somehow, but you can be creative.
The challenge will remain open for two weeks, giving you two weeks to complete your build.
Each person is only allowed one build, and each build can only have one builder (solo challenge).
You are only allowed to build in the designated area and NO WHERE ELSE on the map.
You have to name and sign your build.
Please be considerate about space, and respect other builds.

The winner will be announced by the build-off spawn and on the forum (maybe with an exhibition of the winning build, but the size of the build will determine that). The admins will chose the winner (the admins online when contest is ending will choose which build they like the most. Not necessarily the BEST build - this could also be the most original idea, a humourous build etc.)

We build for the pleasure of building, the challenge, the training, the inspiration and the lolz (and maybe a bit of honour!).

Remember that even if you don’t win, it doesn’t mean that your stuff wasn’t good. This is for fun!

Sunday/Monday we announce the theme for the next two weeks in a separate thread on the forums (and will write the theme and ending date on the signs on the challenge map). When the time is up, the admins online will go through the builds, and vote/fight over/choose a winner. Screenshots are taken for the forums and if possible the build is displayed by build-off spawn. The winner name is put on a wall of fame by the build-off spawn. The area is cleared and next theme announced.

You can reach the build-off world by typing /gb.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The theme is: "Spooky Pumpkin Carving Contest"

The winner will receive a copy of Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion HD!
http://store.steampowered.com/app/57769 ... enovation/

This build is a solo build!
State your name via a sign on or near your build
Stick to the theme
Be considered when it comes to space, we have plenty of it, so don't build too close to each other.

This theme ends on October 29th 2017.

Have fun! :D

Hai! it's astrid here. I had a question about the build. I wanted to know if anime counted as a cartoon, because I wanted to try and build Asuna from SAO, and I wanted to see if it'd be valid for the competition. Please reply as soon as possible.

Thanks! :D

Hi Astrid,

Cartoon in the strictest sense means a 2D drawing, but since I find that somewhat limited, animations are fine too (and Anime, being a form of Japanese animation)
Cannot wait to see your build :)

I like the build off Idea, it seems fun a creative. It is just one step closer to a laid back relaxed server.

Hi guys,

I got some terrible news (regarding my dad's health) so I'm postponing the buildoff with one week.
Adjusted the first post with a new date.

Super Challenge - you might want to extend the sell by date though...

Dang man, hopefully I can participate in this, I would definitely do the Land of the Phaeacians from the Odyssey, but otherwise considering that the theme of adventure is in it, are we allowed to create any sort of fantasy creation, setting or character from our head or movies like The Lord of the Rings?

I believe you could build anything from any fantasy franchise.
But do be careful with the language though. We have young players on our forums frequently. If it isn't appropriate for a 4 year old, consider altering the phrasing to something that is.

Oh sorry man, my mistake, I guess I was just raised up with teachers and parents using it so much, but ill try to make sure it won't happen in the future.

So Regarding the "Myths and Legends" Adventure buildoff:

We have decided to postpone, we're seeing so many fantastic WIP's out there, we wish to see them finished so we can judge them!
In order to give everyone enough time, we are postponing till August 2nd, for those that are already finished: maybe you can add on, or go wild on your new plots in Sihnon! :D

Love the new theme idea...
Problem is...
Nigel the Spider-Viper prefers to stay camouflaged when he's out and about. ;)
hmm... Perhaps I could show off his footprints or something. They're kind of tough to mimic in Minecraft though. Maybe if I use snow, despite him being cold-blooded.

Yes, I do have a hypothetical imaginary pet on standby. Yes, he's been around for quite a while. No, I don't actually have said imaginary pet. I mostly use the idea of it to tease one of my young friends at Taco Bell Club. Nigel the Spider-Viper is from Northern Australia, and likes to migrate South from Michigan every Winter to avoid the cold. He is a reptile after all. lol And a rather venomous one too, if you aren't nice to him. ;)
