House, Ship, & Build Showoff

Postby Fauxx » Sat Aug 08, 2015 7:01 am

Started working on my house a few nights ago. I think it's coming along nicely so far.

I brought over my torches and bamboo from single-player, which helped a lot. I don't know the exact name of that biome/planet, but my favorite race is Floran, so I went for the overgrowth look. A lot of those building materials can be harvested there.

I think Starbound is a little easier on gathering and building than Terraria, since Starbound also has the quest system to keep you busy.

My ship and my pet snake, Wormie! My ship is still small, but I put planks across for storage area. Wormie loves rice! :D

Here's an updated picture of my progress so far. If anyone needs some healing water, lava, oil, coal, or copper let know. I'm swimming in it.

I pasted a lot of screenshots together so that's why the backdrop looks so silly ;)

That's awesome, Kong! I really need to start playing this again! Does your ship just kind of grow on it's own as you progress, or do you build onto it?

You don't build it block by block or anything. But you can go ahead and beat the game without ever upgrading it's size too. So it's not really "as you go" either. There is a specific set of quests that allows you to build up your ship room by room as you go, if you'd like.

Yes, there are quests that let you expand the ship bit by bit. That fish ship looks great, Kong! I hope we can do multiplayer again

Built these quite a while ago singleplayer, but I have future plans to re-do my evil mad scientist-esque asteroid lair- probably on a server. Although .. not sure i'd make the neighboring planets too happy with the overall creepy look :P

Meant for it to look like skulls and a sword (failed miserably) ^

Going to take this one down once I finish the graph paper design of the new house (Somehow these 2D houses are trickier than the 3D ones I build in Minecraft and Blender >.<) With that being said if you have any unused cobble or bones i'd totally take that off your hands for ya.

That looks awesome, Meg!

As a side note, is the server down for anyone else, or does it still have to be updated or something? I can't log on.

I'm going to try again tonight. I'm having to wait on updates because they're not playing nice with Linux.
