Void Mobs

Just wanted to carry this warning over to the new forum.

Void is not guaranteed to be mob free.

Mobs can spawn in void if you've built it up enough. Keep areas well lit or beware of hostile mobs showing up while you're hanging out in void.

Note: if you don't build up enough you won't get mobs. But if there are solid blocks (with a couple of air blocks above them) more than 24 blocks away from where you are then hostile mobs can spawn.

Good to know! I'll mention this to Pixie, as I'm not sure if they're supposed to spawn there or not, no matter how high you go or how dark it is.

FYI - Before the voids broke no mobs spawned.. after the fix (the /fixvoid command) something changed and the mobs started spawning.

And in case you were wondering, or just forgot from rules. You don't want to use this distance/darkness to create mob grinderss. Just because it's your own void, does not mean admins can't check up on it from time to time.

Pixie said passive mobs are okay there, but hostile mobs should not spawn. Rusty will be looking into it, so hopefully it will be fixed soon. In the meantime, what Wolf said. :)

Sorry I wasn't trying to suggest anything like mob grinders. I have/had several levels of farms and orchards and that's where the height came from. Pretty much ripped all the farms up as I'm remodeling it now, but it is not for mob grinding.

Thanks for letting Pixie and Rusty know. Would be nice to not have to worry about dying in my own void from a random hostile mob.
